We’re proud members of the AICPA and MACPA and receive a peer review audit under their national standards, as required by Michigan Law.

The Jessup Group Team
Sue McCloskey, CPA
Sue has worked with Jessup Group for over 20 years and is recognized for her professional demeanor and her experience in the tax field. Sue’s main focus as the Tax Partner is on tax planning for individuals, small business, and nonprofits; however, she also has a wide range of experience in the accounting field.
Sue graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree, and later went on to earn a master’s degree at Western Michigan University. She obtained her CPA license a year later.
Sue is a native of Marshall and continues to live there today. She is a devoted wife and mother of two sons. In her free time, when the Michigan weather allows for it, she is active at a local golf club. Sue also enjoys vacationing in Manistee, Michigan throughout the year with her friends and family.
Kelly Bowers, CPA
Kelly joined Jessup Group in 2003, becoming a partner in 2011. She focuses on individual and small business taxation, as well as consulting and business management services for small businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Prior to joining Jessup Group, she spent time working in the accounting departments of both a not-for-profit organization and a small, for-profit business.
Kelly earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University and a Master of Business Administration from Western Michigan University. She obtained her CPA license in 2008.
Raised in Bellevue, Kelly currently resides in Portage, Michigan. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and attending her children’s activities.
Joelle Knoch, CPA
Since joining Jessup Group in 2010 and becoming partner in 2018, Joelle has used her experience and ability to communicate in order to offer larger, complex organizations a top-quality, cost efficient audit.
Joelle holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and has 14 years of experience managing corporate and nonprofit audit engagements.
Joelle resides in Marshall, with her husband and son. She enjoys family outings around the neighborhood, and traveling.
Stephen Jessup, CPA
Steve started Jessup Group in 1982. He retired from the firm in 2016, but continues to serve and provide guidance in an of-counsel role.
Through Steve’s leadership, Jessup Group has had the opportunity to provide business turnaround, receivables recovery and management, and cost improvement projects for home care and hospice agencies, as well as entire health systems throughout the United States. His work on activity based costing in health care and its applications for improved nursing staff productivity, process refinement due to mergers, and business strategic planning has been published in professional journals.
Prior to starting Jessup Group, Steve served for eight years as an audit manager with a concentration on hospital audits. He also served as a business process consultant for national and regional CPA firms. He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1972 and earned his CPA license in 1974.
In his spare time, Steve enjoys skiing in the winter and sailing in the summer.
